Quartet-Four Poems

Hello all.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested but here's a few poems.

                                         Shut it out

Shut out the fear
The hate
The worry
And the pain.
Shut out the anger
And let in the profane.
Let in the death
Let in the hurt
The suffering and the pity.

Cause that’s all you have;
Just you and your furies.

Is a demon.
A little monster that haunts the useless in the night.
That stalks the faithful
And abhors the creator,
So that there is no rest,
No caring and no light.

Pitiful dirges sing in the cool night air,
Where dead men walk and living no fear,
Where old things stur in older chambers
And hate the living with their fear;
With their pity.

I shall not fear,
Fear is the mind killer,
Fear is the little shit that beats at a boy when he’s already terrified.
Fear is a mind reader
A god among men.

A Short Story

Isaac Hardian was happy.
For the first time in a very long time he was happy. Happier than a new bride and more joyful than joy itself. Up to this point his life was one failure after another, one disappointing leap of experience where he would fall and fall, crashing into a deep and unending depression till he eventually rose from that vast pit only to fall once again.
This was his life, and he accepted it with grace.
What more was there to do? Fight the world, the people that crowded all around him and even his own mind? That was impossible. The world was as the world would ever be for him. People either didn’t notice him or made him their own, and his mind was an immense ocean of terrors and worries mingled with lost hopes that clung for dear life in the hard currents of thought. And in that great, bottomless ocean he was lost. Stranded and left to rot inside himself for all time.
But all that had change for him. Changed forever when he met Alice.

Dune and My Love of Frank Herbert

Hello All.

Ah, mister Herbert, how I admire you. The maker of Dune, the mover of shifting sands on a melange rich planet where dwells the nomadic Fremen and their great god emperor Muad'dib, the kwisatz haderach, and the Maudi of legend.
If you can't tell, I love the Dune series, and Frank Herbert's work in general. He's very much like H.P. Lovecraft for me. A man whose work and life amazes me to no extent. the Dune series, if you've been living under a rock for most of your life, is one of the bestselling science-fiction series of all time. It's a very spiritually and environmentally concerned book series that's chalk full of intrigue, amazing characters, interesting and original ideas and a deep and enthralling world. The influence of his can be seen many other science-fiction series such as Star Wars, with the planet Tatooine,
the Fallout video game series, with it's drug known as Mentats---a direct reference to the human computers in the Dune u…
